美國加州大學洛杉磯分校歷史系博士，前任明代研究會（Society for Ming Studies）會長，現為加拿大不列顛哥倫比亞大學亞洲研究系副教授，主要研究領域包括中國經學史、辨偽學史和明清物質文化。著有Critics and Commentators: The Book of Poems as Classic and Literature以及有關明代經學史、古代文獻學和明清銀錠文化史的文章，也是Information in China: A Literary History（《中國文學資訊史》）的主編之一。
