劍橋大學數學科學教授、千禧年數學計畫（Millennium Mathematics Project）負責人，劍橋大學克萊亞堂（Clare Hall）研究學者、皇家學會（Royal Society）研究學者，倫敦格里辛學院（Gresham College）格里辛幾何學教授。
著作包括《大霹靂》（The Origin of the Universe）、《自我發現的宇宙》（The Universe that Discovered Itself）、《無之書》（The Book of Nothing）、《自然常數》（The Constants of Nature）、《無限大的祕密》（The Infinite Book）、《新萬有理論》（New Theories of Everything）、《宇宙圖像》（Cosmic Imagery）、《宇宙之書》（The Book of Universes）。
他也是得獎舞台劇《無限》（Infinities）的作者。
